The result of the proposal was move. JPG-GR (talk) 20:11, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
Proposing move of Cadbury Schweppes Americas Beverages to Dr Pepper Snapple Group. The "new" Dr Pepper Snapple Group spun off by Cadbury Schweppes is, to all intents and purposes, Cadbury Schweppes Americas Beverages renamed to reflect the fact it is no longer part of the Cadbury stable (see here). I'm not sure there is a need to have separate articles. Gr1st (talk) 12:38, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
- I agree. Darkieboy236 (talk) 13:48, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
OK. so Darkieboy236 can ask for Dr Pepper Snapple Group to be speedy deleted by replacing the article with {{db-author}}. Then when an administrator has deleted Dr Pepper Snapple Group this article can be moved to the new article. --Triwbe (talk) 19:41, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
- I'd recommend a merge with Dr Pepper/Seven Up as the spinoff corporation is a holding group that is maintaining the company that was formed when Dr Pepper and Seven Up were purchased by KKR about two dozen years ago. Even the A & W Root Beer, Snapple, Canada Dry, and RC Cola products show "bottled under the authority of Dr Pepper/Seven Up" on their labels. B.Wind (talk) 05:19, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

- Just to clarify - are you suggesting a three-way mega-merger of Dr Pepper/Seven Up, Cadbury Schweppes Americas Beverages and Dr Pepper Snapple Group here? If so, I agree. The Dr Pepper/Seven Up article overlaps quite considerably with CSAB, and so the whole history of the company from 1986 up to the present day is probably best served in a single article. - Dr Pepper Snapple Group is now something like Cadbury Schweppes Americas Beverages and reflects the new company and relevant changes. I think that CSAB can now be redirected to DPSG and work can start on incorporating Dr Pepper/Seven Up into the new article, if there is a consensus. There is also the possibility to merge Mott's Beverages and Snapple Beverages into this article! Darkieboy236 (talk)

Sounds like a worthwhile plan. We should go with the most-commonly-used name, even if it would mean that names of holding companies and the like would wind up being redirects. Gr1st echoed my suggestion fine. Now, the key questions are "Is 'Dr Pepper/Seven Up, Inc.' going to change its name on its drink containers (which it hasn't for two decades)" and "Will the name of the holding company get more mention than the company it is actually holding?" I don't have an answer, but if pressed for a suggestion, I'd say to use the name as it appears on the current bottles, cans, and promotions. B.Wind (talk) 03:12, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
