Extinction of the Internet
The greed of corporations like this is affecting e-Commerce. This isn't only bilking the
little guy...the big picture is that it is changing the face of the internet as we all
know it. Internet customers often have no other choice, but to go along with the new
policies that are imposed upon them after a corporate buy-out that results in
opportunistic policy changes that cap bandwidth. Customers who are limited in bandwidth, in
turn, limit their time on the internet...which means limiting the purchase of items on
the internet, viewing advertisements, paying bills, downloading programs/videos/songs,
watching streaming video, etc. I suppose we can all go back to our pre-internet lives
…back to the time before we could email a picture we took of our child ten minutes
before to grandparents in another state…back to the time before we could shop
in the wee hours of the morning in our bathrobe…back to the time video and audio
files were only available on shelves of stores…back to the time when we had to mail
our paper payments to the cable company (which, consequently will be less since we
won't have to pay for internet). I find it to be unfortunate that the last frontier
has now been taken over and those in the way will have to live on bandwidth reservations.
