Clube de Futebol Estrela da Amadora (pron. IPA[(ɨ)ʃ'tɾelɐ dɐ ɐmɐ'doɾɐ]), sometimes refer to as just Estrela, is a Portuguese sports club (prominently football) based on Amadora, northwest of Lisbon. While never a contender to the place of third most important club in the Lisbon Football Association, Estrela da Amadora (which is translated to "Amadora Star") won a Cup of Portugal in 1990 and one Portuguese Second Division of Honour title in 1992-93. Within their 12 completed seasons at top flight football, their best season was in the 1997-98, when they finished seventh. Estrela has participated in the Cup Winners' Cup in 1990 reaching the 2nd stage.

[edit] Kit

The Estrela kit is white with the shirt split with three colours (hence the nickname 'the tricolours').The left side is red, the middle is white and the right side green, with the shorts and socks white. Estrela is sponsored by Portuguese brand Tepa and Cofidis.

  • Estrela has 6500 registered paying supporters, a lot for a club with a small stadium.
  • In 2005 they decided to change the club's kit to traditional white copying the badge and taking away the old red, green and white striped kit.
  • The club have won the Liga de Honra once, in 1993.
  • Their best ever finish was 7th in the 1997/98 season.
