[edit] Political career

Muse was originally elected to the House of Delegates in 1994, representing District 26 in southern Prince George's County. During his time in the house, he served on the Ways and Means Committee and as chaplain of the Maryland Legislative Black Caucus. He only served one term in the House, not running for re-election in 1998, and lost an election for Prince George's County Executive in 2002. In 2008, he cited the Bible in opposing bills in support of same-sex marriage, civil unions and same-sex domestic partnership recognition. He also opposed a bill allowing for hospital visitation of same-sex domestic partners, again citing the Bible.[citation needed]
