USS KITTY HAWK (CV 63), AT SEA (July 20, 2004) - A C-2A Greyhound, or Carrier On-Board Delivery (COD), attached to Fleet Logistic Squadron (VRC) 30, lands on the flight deck of USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63) during Carrier Qualifications (CQ) in the western Pacific Ocean. The Kitty Hawk Strike Group is one of seven carrier strike groups (CSGs) involved in Summer Pulse, demonstrating the Navy's ability to provide credible combat power across the globe, in five theaters with other U.S., allied, and coalition military forces. Summer Pulse is a readiness demonstration by the Navy testing its new Fleet Response Plan (FRP). Currently under way in the 7th Fleet area of responsibility (AOR), Kitty Hawk demonstrates power projection and sea control, as the world's only permanently forward-deployed aircraft carrier, operating from Yokosuka, Japan.
