Made from the GNU maps of the Byzantine empire by several editors on commons and wikipedia.:
- 550 (Western Roman Empire shown in green.), by User: Jniemenmaa.
- 717 at the accession of Leo III, by w:User:Bigdaddy1204
- 1025 under Basil II, by w:User:Bigdaddy1204
- 1095 after the Turkish invasion, by w:User:Bigdaddy1204
- 1180 under Manuel Komnenos, c.1180. Although the Byzantines reconquered much of Asia Minor, including the fertile coastal regions, the Turks were never driven out completely. by w:User:Bigdaddy1204
- 1270 After the damage caused by the Fourth Crusade, it proved impossible to restore the empire to the position it had held under Manuel Komnenos. by w:User:Bigdaddy1204
