re "use by off road vehicles"
i don't want to get all uppity, but any "mechanically powered" (ie motorbike or 4x4 but also tractors) user is actually has to be "road legal", and technically these byways (BOATs) are still roads. theses users hence aren't actually off roaders but people who use (predominately but not necessarily) untarmaced roads. i know its a very very subtle difference but it important. to contrast i can't just turn up on a motocross bike and ride down a BOAT - that would be illegal as i would lack road tax, insurance, etc, etc
hope that clears that up - don't know what politically correct phrase you would use instead but something else please --160.5.247.213 01:53, 28 November 2005 (UTC) (im a lurker)
should this article no be merged with Byway open to all traffic as what is being to refered to is (in England and Wales) the same thing ...... Bridleways and Footpaths have their own pages..... --160.5.247.213 02:00, 28 November 2005 (UTC) (im the same lurker again)
