Brian W Matthews, Nature and travel photographer based in the North East of England (UK).

He have traveled to over 30 countries and photographed hundreds of species for birds, mammals and many incredible landscapes. He is currently working on a book in India.

Badgers in the UK and elephants in India are his favourite photographic subjects. Photographing tigers and other wildlife on the backs of elephants in Corbett National Park in India is always challenging and fun. Being based in the UK, seabirds such as gannets and puffins are local favourites but birds of prey are his favourite avian subject. Over the past few years he has spent a lot of time photographing owls, sea eagles and ospreys. See some of his , favourite shots

He has always used Canon cameras and lenses, starting with his first SLR a Canon EOS 300 in 2000 and now use Canon EOS 1DS MKII and 1D MKII cameras with a range of Canon L series lenses from 20mm up to 500mm. His favourite lens is either my 20mm or 300mm f2.8. He squeezes his kit into a Lowe Pro PhotoTrekker which travels all over the world. He rarely use a tripod and prefers to use bean bags, or more often than not hand holding (bad habit!). Brian has a PC-based digital dark room and produce prints on an Epson 2400. Rawshooter Premium, Breeze Browser and Photoshop (currently CS3) are his main software tools. He use Lacie and Seagate external hard drives to back up my images and travel with Flashtrax hard drives
