Robert Bower "Buzz" Peterson, Jr. (born May 17, 1963) is currently an executive (director of player personnel) with the Charlotte Bobcats of the NBA. Previously, he was the College Basketball head coach at Coastal Carolina University. He also formerly coached at Tulsa and Tennessee.
Peterson played basketball at North Carolina where he was a roommate of Michael Jordan. On June 12, 2007, he joined the Charlotte Bobcats, the team co-owned by Jordan, as an executive in basketball operations. [1]
He was the head men's basketball coach at Appalachian State University from 1996 to 2000, leading the Mountaineers to the Southern Conference Tournament Championship during the 1999-2000 season. ASU also won the SoCon North Division Title during the 1997-98 and 1998-99 seasons. During his single season at the University of Tulsa, 2000-2001, Peterson led the Golden Hurricane to their second NIT championship.
