It is proposed that bureaucrat elections are held twice a year to promote candidates to become bureaucrats. In each election, three users gain bureaucrat rights on the English Wikipedia. This would be similar to the Arbitration Committee elections.

[edit] Format

Any administrator in good standing may run at the elections. The elections will be held in the first week of April and the first week of October each year. Optional questions may be left for the candidate on their candidacy page and concerns can be discussed on the talk page of the page. Each candidate will have a support and oppose section underneath their candidacy statement. The three users with the highest support percentages will be promoted at the end of the election.

[edit] Terms of office

Each newly elected bureaucrat will hold the position for a period of 18 months, after which, they will be required to seek re-election by the the same process. Current bureaucrats will be exempt from this, and will retain their rights until they decide to voluntarily give them up.
