Burniston

Burniston is a village and civil parish in the Scarborough borough of North Yorkshire, England. It is situated about four miles north of Scarborough itself, on the A171 road and, according to the 2001 census, had a population of 1,389. The village has a post office on the High Street, and two pubs, the Three Jolly Sailors and the Oak Wheel. It also has a fuel station which has a garage attached (Burniston Motor Works) and car sales, as well as England's garage, a former petrol station. Burniston Village Hall and its land include a park and tennis courts. It has one guest house, Harmony Country Lodge, which has an unusual octagonal design. There are two churches, the Methodist church in the High Street and Harmony Church and Healing Sanctuary at the top of Limestone Road, which is non-religious Christian.
