Burning Fight is an arcade game created by SNK in 1991 for the Neo Geo MVS system. This game is a beat 'em up, probably an attempt to make some cash using Capcom's Final Fight and Sega's Streets of Rage premises. Three years after its release in arcades and the Neo Geo, it was released in the Neo Geo CD as the only home version of this game. The producer of this game is Eikichi Kawasaki, one of the SNK founders and the man behind various famous SNK games, like Fatal Fury and Samurai Shodown series.

[edit] Gameplay
Basically this game uses the same elements that makes Final Fight famous, as the balance between characters, grabing weapons or things in the ground to make more damage to the opponents and breaking things like phone booths and street signs along the way. But also, added some new elements, like mini-stages, where you have to defeat some enemies and gain some prizes, all in 10-15 seconds.
[edit] Story
Duke and Billy, two popular and renowned New York City Police detectives, are hot on the trail of a dangerous Japanese crime syndicate. Their investigation has led them to the mean streets of Japan where they meet a police officer and martial arts expert named Ryu. Ryu agrees to join the NYPD detectives as they track down the crime syndicate bosses and end their reign of terror once and for all.[2]
[edit] Playable characters
- Duke Edwards: He is the protagonist and the balanced character in the game, his kicks having a good range. Duke is ideal for beginner players. His special move is a spinning uppercut called Submarine Screw. He resembles Cody from Final Fight series, Lancelot from Knights of the Round and Axel Stone from Streets of Rage series.
- Ryu Saeba: He is the fastest character in the game, who can perform good combos, but has the weakest attacks. Ryu's speed makes him a good option to play. His special move is a tornado kick. He resembles Guy from Final Fight series and Zhao Yun from Warriors of Fate.
- Billy King: He is the strong character in the game, taking a lot of energy with his attacks, but also the slowest one. Billy is recommended only for assisting your partner, or for experienced players. His special move is a plunge who knocks down everyone in his way. He resembles Perceval from Knights of the Round.
[edit] Trivia
- Duke Edwards is the most famous character from this game, appeared in various other SNK games as a cameo. But has 2 notable appearances in the history of this company:
- The King of Fighters 2000: as Ramon's alternative striker, performing his Submarine Screw.
- Neo Geo Battle Coliseum: in the character of Yuki, who has a move called Submarine Screw (referenced to Duke's signature move) and in the potentied version of this move, Yuki transforms into Duke for a few time, who makes the real Submarine Screw.
- Despite the fact that the enemies are yakuza, the end boss is a Spanish or Italian man named Castella (Casterora in Japanese), who resembles Belger from Final Fight.
- This game has no ending, no matter which character you have chosen. After defeating Castella, you are only shown various scenes of the game along with the credits, and finally a group picture of the main characters.[3]
