[edit] use of name
I took out the "NOTE" at the bottom. The critisism included these points -- wikipedia is not suppose to produce advisory opinions. Joel s 15:59, 14 March 2006 (UTC)
- In my opinion the complication albums and the name of Claude Challe became a big name in the Lounge and Chill-out musical community. Maybe someone can prepare album articles for these complications. With respect, Deliogul 15:36, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

Below: someone's opinion on the subject
Well, the previous two chapters are written about Buddhist beliefs. But before going to that end we should talk about where it is justifiable to use a religious leader's name and statue for business use. Can anyone tell me the significance of using the Buddha's name and statue for a BAR? As the world is moving towards a religious freedom and harmony, will we all be satisfied to see there are religious leaders names being used for a BAR? Think that this is your religious leader's name.
Note: Text/syntax/spelling, etc. was virtually unreadable. I tried to clean it up without affecting the writer's meaning (who was just someone logging on here to show his/her opinion)

[edit] Religious Leaders' Names for Bars
I oppose the use of the name of any Religious Leader as a trade name and specifically, for a bar. As a Buddhist I'm opposed to the use of Buddha to identify a bar or a restaurant, much more to placing a Buddha statue at the premises. I think what we need to think about is how controversial it would be if someone were to start a bar with the name "Jesus Bar" or "Muhammedh Bar". Would they even be able to operate the place for sometime? I don't think so. The fact that there are so few Buddhists in the world, as compared to Christians and Muslims and even that small minority tends to be extremely tolerating and accommodating with other religions should not be taken as a grant of permission to ridicule Buddhism in any manner. I hope we can find a way to add this to the criticism section, if others also agree.
Apart from that I really like the music. 124.43.228.244 05:20, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
- The fact that you don't like it is not encyclopedic. The fact that the bar exists and the albums are notable makes this an article belonging on Wikipedia. (the criticisms section is, currently, quite bad as well. "Some", "many", "majority", "schools", "may", "possible", etc. -- Sounds like somebody is making it all up on the spot. No sources, no hard facts, just speculation. IMO the only thing that should remain in the criticism part is the fact that the restaurant serves meat and alcoholic beverages, which may not be in line with buddhist beliefs. Everything else there should go.
- Yep, what can Wikipedia do? Go in and shut down the Paris bar and confiscate all the CD's because you don't like the name? Guinness man 11:07, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
- Seriously, wikipedia talkpage is not the place for whining about usage of the name. Most of the discussions recorded in this page are actually irrelevent, if the fact remains that there IS a BAR called Buddha bar in Paris. For those Buddhists who think that they are the victimised 'minority' here (as 124.43.228.244) claims, they should take the matter elsewhere. For the record, I am coming from a Buddhist background. [edit] Little Buddha bar
I can't find "causy" in a dictionary, can someone who can tell what the author meant replace it with a real word? 213.162.65.17 14:29, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
The article reads "Buddha Bar has also opened venues in Beirut, Dubai, Amman, New York City, and Lisbon. A brand-new venue, designed to emulate the Buddha Bar in Paris, will open at the Sofitel El Gezirah in Cairo on August 1, 2007." It is now past that date, and Sofitel El Gezirah's website ( http://www.sofitel.com/sofitel/fichehotel/gb/sof/5307/fiche_restaurant.shtml ) seems to indicate that the bar has indeed opened ("Opening hours : 19:00-03:00").

[edit] Type
Not all of the listed Buddha Bars seems to be "official" Buddha Bars. Also, there are two types of "official Buddha Bars" - "Buddha Bars" and "Little Buddha Bars". --195.3.97.222 (talk) 13:55, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
- Buddha Bar New York is not relatet to the official Budha-Bar Paris. You can proof that by going to the homepage of buddha bar NY (http://www.buddhabarnyc.com/]). At the end of the page there is written "DISCLAIMER: Buddha-Bar NYC is a trade name of Little Rest Twelve, Inc. and is not affiliated with any other restaurant, dining or entertainment establishment or any entity named "Buddha", "Buddha-Bar", "Buddha-Lounge" or similarly sounding name.". Further more, on the official Website of Buddha Bar, there is a list of official Buddha-Bar restaurants. NY is NOT on the list. --BambooBeast (talk) 09:28, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
