The Ier River is a former tributary of the Crişul Alb River, at present intercepted by the Canalul Morilor. The river is mostly channelized and is integrated into the drainage system of the area.
[edit] Hydronomy
The Hungarian name of the river (Büdos Ér) means "lazy brook". The Romanian name derives from that.
