The Bucks County Sharks (also known as simply The Sharks) are a semi-professional rugby league club located in Bucks County, Pennsylvania in the United States. The team plays in the American National Rugby League competition but are yet to win a championship title; however they have come close on several occasions including a minor premiership in 2002 and usually finish in the top half of the AMNRL table each year qualifying for the playoffs. The team will often provide several players to the USA national side each year.

The club was founded in the year 1997 for the inaugural AMNRL season under the name the New Jersey Sharks by Fred Bachaus and Phil Shipos both of whom were American internationals and wanted a team in the top tier of North American rugby league. The 2006 AMNRL season would see the Sharks perform strongly during the regular season and eventually qualify for the playoff series after finishing third. The first week of the series saw the Sharks comfortably defeat the Jacksonville Axemen by nearly fifty points however the second round of the knockout stage saw them lose 54-18 to the Glen Mills Bulls.

[edit] Uniform & Colours

For their inaugural American National Rugby League season the club adopted the colors of blue, black and white but their uniforms were predominatly blue[1] and similar in style to the National Rugby League side the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks after the club arranged a team partnership association with them[2]. For the 2006 season the club changed their home kit to include a darker blue strip with predominately black socks and shorts.

[edit] Stadium

The Sharks have used several stadia since formation in 1997 however until 2006 predominately used the Falls Township Community Park as their home ground located in Levittown, Pennsylvania. Since recent seasons however the team has used the Jack Pearson Stadium (alternatively referred to as Shark Park) located in Bucks County, Pennsylvania to play all home games at.

The Stadium is also used for local soccer and rugby union teams.
