Bruce Fein
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Bruce Fein is a lawyer in the United States who specializes in constitutional and international law. He was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts and his father was the famous Louis Fein who pioneered the internet and electronics for spy planes. His father spent much of his career at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California.
Under President Ronald Reagan, Fein served as an associate deputy attorney general from 1981 to 1982 and as general counsel to the Federal Communications Commission. He graduated from Harvard Law School in 1972.
In March 2007, he founded the American Freedom Agenda with Bob Barr, David Keene and Richard Viguerie. Notable published writings by Fein include articles advocating the impeachment of former U.S. president Bill Clinton and current U.S. vice-president Dick Cheney and president George W Bush. Fein recently has been hired to assist in separatist efforts of the Tamils of Sri Lanka amidst much controversy and displeasure of the Government of Sri Lanka.
However, his role as a lobbyist for the Tamil Tigers in 2008 contradicts his position taken in 2004. In a column he wrote to the The Washington Times, dated February 3, 2004, he defended unequivocally the then Secretary of State Madeleine Albright for designating 30 organizations, including the Tamil Tigers, as “foreign terrorist organizations” under the Anti-terrorism and Effective Death Penalty Act of 1996. http://mawbima.blogspot.com/2008/01/bruce-fein-staunch-opponent-of-tigers.html
Fein has authored numerous articles on constitutional issues for The Washington Times, Slate.com, The New York Times, Legal Times, and is considered an authority on civil liberties.
In 2008 he was nominated to receive the World Peace award for his efforts in civil liberties.
He married Mattie Lolavar in 2004.
