Brown Mackie College – Salina in Salina, Kansas, is a member of the Brown Mackie College system of schools, a collection of private, for-profit educational institutions for career preparation in the business, legal, health sciences, information technology, and creative fields. The Brown Mackie College system of schools has 18 locations in eight states throughout the Midwestern, southeastern, and southwestern United States, and has a total enrollment of 9,078 students (as of fall 2006). The Brown Mackie College schools are owned by Education Management Corporation, based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Brown Mackie College schools provide bachelor’s degree, associate’s degree, diploma, and certificate programs.

Brown Mackie College — Salina was founded and approved by the Board of Trustees of Kansas Wesleyan College in Salina, Kansas, on July 30, 1892. The trustees contracted with Professor T.W. Roach to organize the Commercial Department, which was then known as The Kansas Wesleyan School of Business. The College began operation on Sept. 12, 1892.
In 1938, the College was incorporated as The Brown Mackie School of Business under the ownership of Mr. Perry E. Brown and Mr. A.B. Mackie, former instructors at Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, Kansas. By January 1975, with improvements in curricula and higher degree-granting status, The Brown Mackie School of Business became Brown Mackie College. In 2003, the College was acquired by Education Management Corporation.

Current sports at Brown Mackie College — Salina are men’s baseball, men’s and women’s basketball, and women’s fast-pitch softball.
In 1990, the administration of Brown Mackie College – Salina decided the College could prosper if they would incorporate Intercollegiate Athletics as part of the overall college structure. It was further decided that Brown Mackie College – Salina would join the ranks as a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).
