Brown Bag Films

Brown Bag Films is an Academy Award-nominated animation studio, based in Dublin, Ireland. Established in 1994 by Cathal Gaffney and Darragh O Connell, Brown Bag Films produce 2D and 3D character animation, including commercials, short films and TV series for international markets.

Give Up Yer Aul Sins was nominated[1] for "Best Animated Short" in the 2001 Oscars, and was the best-selling DVD release in Ireland in 2002.[citation needed]

Employing more than 50 staff, Brown Bag have teams of 2D and 3D Animators operating in a full High Definition envoirnment complete with in house picture and audio post production.

In July 2007, Brown Bag Films moved to a new studio in Smithfield Square, Dublin, which was specially designed by Award winning firm Douglas Wallace Architects.The new studio was officially opened [[2]] by the Irish Taoiseach (Prime Minister) Mr. Bertie Ahern T.D.

Brown Bag Films have produced and co-produced on a number of TV series including:


"Teenology" (2007, 30 x 1 min) for RTÉ, created by Bronagh O Hanlon.

"Wobbly Land" (2007, 26 x5 min)for HIT Entertainment and Nickelodeon UK, created by Cat Little.

"Crap Rap" (2007, 20 x 4 min) for RTÉ, created by Nicky Phelan.

"Im an Animal" (2006, 52 X 2 min) for RTÉ and the Irish Film Board.

"Barstool" (1996, 7 X 4 min) for RTÉ, Created by Paul Young.

"Peig" (1994, 7 X 3 min) for RTÉ.
