[edit] History

Founded in 1980 by Fr. Philip Merdinger, a priest of the Archdiocese of Newark, New Jersey, the Brotherhood of Hope began a life of brotherhood striving with a desire to bring their lives closer to Jesus.

[edit] Lifestyle

The group seeks to bring their lives as close to that of Jesus Christ as possible, taking vows of chastity, poverty, and obedience. The charism of the order is the All-Sufficiency of Jesus Christ, hope of the world; a charism reflected in their motto: "Primum Deus - Deus Solum" (God First, God Alone). The Brotherhood maintains a wide outreach with students on college campuses, and are currently present at Florida State University, Boston University, Northeastern University and Rutgers University.

[edit] Membership

There are currently about 20 men in the Brotherhood of Hope at various stages of the life, living together and working in ministries in Boston, MA; New Brunswick, NJ; and Tallahassee, FL.

[edit] Music

The brothers have recorded two albums - 2003's A Season of Hope and 2006's Into the Deep.
