Broccoli[1] Co., Ltd. (株式会社ブロッコリー kabushiki-gaisha burokkorii?) is a Japanese company that is synonymous with Gamers (ゲーマーズ Gēmāzu?) which their retail chain stores are named, but is not a separate company. Broccoli is the parent company of Broccoli Music Publishing, Broccoli International USA, and Anime Gamers USA Inc. Broccoli also publish manga under Broccoli Books.

[edit] Gamers (retail chain)
Their retail stores, Gamers, is famous for increasing the popularity of Dejiko, a catgirl character created by Koge-Donbo for a Gamers advertisement. While the first and original Gamers store was in Ikebukuro, a district of Tokyo, Japan, the Gamers headquarters store is located in Akihabara, Japan. The original Ikebukuro store closed its doors to business on January 15, 2006 with a final sales event.
There are Gamers locations throughout Japan and one in Los Angeles, California. The Los Angeles store is known as "Anime Gamers" due to another American company holding the "Gamers" trademark.

Broccoli is credited with the production of several anime and manga. Madhouse productions is their close working partner, being the anime producer of many of Broccoli's anime.

[edit] Collaboration with Animate
On January 23, 2008, they announced that they collaborated with their rival, Animate and made a new company "AniBro". Animate holds 70% of the company, while Broccoli holds 30%. The president of the company will be the CEO of Animate, although he will continue to manage Animate along with AniBro. AniBro plans to expand using the AniBro brand to many places in Japan. [2]
