Broadbay Township, Forsyth County, North Carolina

Broadbay Township is one of fourteen townships in Forsyth County, North Carolina, USA. The township had a population of 2,904 according to the 2000 census.
The name "Broadbay" is an interesting one 300 miles from the coast. The settlers who came from Waldoboro, on the Broad Bay of Maine in 1770 to join the Moravian Church and found the settlement of Friedland, named the area where they settled in Wachovia after the Broad Bay in Maine.
Geographically, Broadbay Township occupies 9.82 square miles in southern Forsyth County. There are no incorporated municipalities in Broadbay Township and much of the original township has been annexed by the City of Winston-Salem and made part of Winston Township.
