Newark Broad Street Station is a historic New Jersey Transit commuter rail station at 25 University Avenue in Newark, New Jersey. Built in 1906 by the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad to serve its line from Hoboken to Denville, the station's historic architecture includes an elegant clock tower and a brick and stone façade on the station's main building.

This station is currently (July 1, 2007) undergoing renovation. Construction contractors have completed the new center island, and have demolished the southernmost track and platform. Eastbound trains currently use the center track.

Broad Street Station is currently served by the Morristown Line and the Gladstone Branch of the Morris and Essex Lines, and the Montclair-Boonton Line.

Buses 11, 13, 27, 28, 29, 39, 41, 43, 72, 76, 78, and 108 stop regularly at this station in both directions.
[edit] Newark Light Rail Line
This station is the northern terminus of the Newark Light Rail line from Newark Penn Station. Service on this line opened on July 17, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. EDT. Light Rail trains operate from about 6AM to midnight, daily[1] Light rail service has been unavailable at this point since March 2008; a portion of the Westinghouse building collapsed near the tracks.
