Post-black metal is a term applied to a variety of black metal bands. It is generally used when referring to a band when the music is rooted more or less firmly in black metal but displays avant-garde, industrial, electronic and/or experimental tendencies. Later records by certain black metal bands such as Mayhem or Satyricon are sometimes referred to as post-black metal due to their electronic/industrial influences.
