The Mael Brigite thing is quite explainable by the cult status that St. Bride had within the family, and later all branches of the Douglases. Take the spiritual home today, and burying ground at St. Bride's, Douglas, and St. Bride's in Abernethy. NOT castles or battle sites, funnily enough, for a bunch of relatively psychopathic gentlemen!
