The British Universities Ice Hockey Association http://www.buiha.org.uk was founded in spring term 2003 by an group of enthusiastic hockey players from the universities of Oxford, London, Nottingham and Newcastle.

The organisation took over the running of the British Universities' National Championship (see Rawlinson Plate) and inaugaurated the first "Cup Competition".
