British Society of Master Glass Painters

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The British Society of Master Glass Painters, (BSMGP) founded in 1921, is Britain's only organization devoted exclusively to the art and craft of stained glass. From the outset, its chief objectives have been to promote and encourage high standards in the art and craft of glass painting and staining, to act as a locus for the exchange of information and ideas within the craft and to preserve the stained glass heritage of Britain. It seeks to promote interest in all aspects of the craft and its wide range of activities and opportunities includes: lectures, conferences, exhibitions, forums, guided walks and other events; an annual Journal, quarterly newsletter and other publications; access to the Society’s extensive reference library and illustrated online design portfolios.

The website of the Society gives a wealth of information for all those interested in the art and craft of stained glass: historians and academics, practising artists, students and enthusiasts. It is an invaluable resource for those wishing to study, conserve or restore historic glass or to commission new work.
