Bridgepoint Education, (BPE) a San Diego, California-based company since 1999, is a private holding company that owns and operates higher education institutions. Bridgepoint was named the fastest growing private education company in the United States by Inc. Magazine[1], as well as the fastest growing company in San Diego by the San Diego Business Journal.
Bridgepoint invests in small, liberal-arts colleges and universities and provides them with the funding and management expertise to enhance their academic programs and expand student enrollment. The company’s properties offer academic programs at the associate, bachelor, master and doctorate levels. Their customer base is composed of both online distance learners as well as traditional, on-campus students. Currently, Bridgepoint owns and operates two institutions: Ashford University and University of the Rockies.

Bridgepoint Education was founded in 1999 to provide affordable and accessible university education to working adults and other non-traditional students. Andrew Clark joined Bridgepoint in December 2003 and began recruiting the current executive team. Since that time, Bridgepoint has seen its revenues grow by over 4,000%. In March 2005, Bridgepoint acquired Ashford University, and in September 2007, Bridgepoint took over the Colorado School of Professional Psychology, changing its name to University of the Rockies.

Ashford University (AU) is a private, coeducational liberal arts university located in Clinton, Iowa. The University offers Associate's, Bachelor's and Master's degrees through its campus in Clinton and over the internet through its College of External Studies. The school is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. As of January 2008, the student body (both online and traditional) includes almost 18,000 undergraduates and 1000 graduate students.

University of the Rockies (UoR) is a private graduate school located in Colorado Springs, Colorado. As of February, 2008 the University offers three options in the Master of Arts in Psychology degree and two options in the Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) degree.
