Brett Alan Schwartz has been directing and producing documentaries for over twelve years. Schwartz graduated from [Stanford’s Documentary Film Program] in 1999 where he received an MA. His thesis film, [SHIFTING TRADITIONS] won several awards, played in numerous film festivals, and was broadcast on [KQED-TV], San Francisco PBS. The film was distributed through the University of California-Berkeley’s Center for Media and Independent Learning. Based in the New York area for many years, Schwartz teamed up with other producers to launch several one-hour documentaries that were broadcast on [MSNBC], CBS, Court TV, Bravo, HGTV, and PBS. His broadcast television and independent project credits have included producer, director, videographer, and editor. Schwartz’s latest film, [BASSMAKER], profiles how [Lakland Musical Instruments'] Dan Lakin builds bass guitars for rock’s top acts and tomorrow’s stars, inspiring others in a tribute to the backbone of rhythm: the bass guitar. Schwartz currently lives with his wife and two children outside of Chicago in Deerfield, Illinois.
