Brentwood is a city in St. Louis County, Missouri, United States. The population was 7,693 at the 2000 census. Brentwood is home to Brentwood High School, a National Blue Ribbon Award winner.

Brentwood is located at 38°37′9″N, 90°20′55″W (38.619102, -90.348715)[3].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.0 square miles (5.1 km²), all of it land.

Brentwood High School has had a long standing rivalry with Maplewood-Richmond Heights. Students often plan to sabotage students of the other school. Even some of the administration have gotten into the rivalry by encouraging students to beat the other school either in MAP Testing or sports. The last Brentwood/Maplewood football game ended with a score 50/14, MapleWood.

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 7,693 people, 3,929 households, and 1,775 families residing in the city. The population density was 3,948.4 people per square mile (1,523.2/km²). There were 4,088 housing units at an average density of 2,098.1/sq mi (809.4/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 92.68% White, 1.81% African American, 0.19% Native American, 3.48% Asian, 0.32% from other races, .0278 Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.73% of the population.

There were 3,929 households out of which 19.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 35.3% were married couples living together, 7.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 54.8% were non-families. 46.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 1.96 and the average family size was 2.88. In the city the population was spread out with 19.2% under the age of 18, 7.2% from 18 to 24, 40.2% from 25 to 44, 19.0% from 45 to 64, and 14.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years.

The median income for a household in the city was $60,643, and the median income for a family was $63,311. Males had a median income of $47,113 versus $38,924 for females. The per capita income for the city was $30,645. About 3.4% of families and 5.5% of the population were below the poverty line, including 5.7% of those under age 18 and 7.7% of those age 65 or over.
