From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Bremsnes is a former municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway.
It was created by a split from Kvernes on January 1, 1897. At that time Bremsnes had a population of 2,917. On 8 July 1903 an uninhabited district of Bremsnes was moved back to Kvernes.
On 1 January 1964 the districts of Bolga and Valen, with 884 inhabitants, became a part of Frei, and the district Dale with 963 residents, was incorporated into Kristiansund. The rest of Bremsnes, with 3,153 inhabitants, was merged with Kvernes and most of Kornstad to create the new municipality Averøy.
