Brea Olinda Unified School District

Brea Olinda Unified School District is the school district serving the City of Brea in Orange County, California, United States. It also serves portions of the nearby cities of Fullerton, Yorba Linda and La Habra.
The school district consists of:
- 6 elementary schools
- 1 junior high school
- 1 high school
- 1 continuation high school
The District has completed design plans for a new elementary school at the corner of Birch and Valencia. However, construction is on hold as the school district waits for developer fees from three major housing projects in Brea. [1]

[edit] Board of Trustees
The Brea Olinda Unified School District has a seven-member board. Each member is elected to serve a four-year term of office. The current trustees are:[2]

The Board of Trustees is responsible for policy making for the school district.
[edit] The Superintendent
The Board of Trustees appoints a professional to oversee the day-to-day operations of the school district. The Superintendent of Schools is Dr. A.J. "Skip" Roland who acts as the chief executive officer of the school district as well as the Secretary to the Board of Trustees. He has one Assistant Superintendent, Anne Flesher who oversees Personnel and Educational Services. Dr. Roland previously served as Assistant Superintendent for Business Services, which is currently vacant.

The Brea Education Foundation was established to support the mission of the Brea Olinda Unified School District. The Foundation is a non-profit organization committed to raising funds and developing resources to provide students the tools and materials needed in order to maintain and advance educational opportunities for a new generation of learners [website].

[edit] 2006 board elections
In 2006, Araz Pourmorad and Andrew W. Todd, both only 21 years old, ran for the Board of Trustees short-term[3] and full-term seats, respectively. However, both candidates lost in the election on November 7 [5] [6]. Neither have declared they will run again in 2008 however both continue to express interest. Both were among the youngest to ever run for public office in Brea. Additionally, they were among a host of young candidates to seek public office throughout Orange County in the 2006 General Election.

This created a short-term race to complete the remaining two years of Keller's term. Trustee Sokol won the seat and will be up for re-election in 2008.
