[edit] Welcome from Jeff02
Hello, welcome to Wikipedia! It seems I'm the first person to leave you a message, so I guess I'll show you the ropes:
- First off, it's considered a good idea to leave edit summarys when you edit, that way when someone looks through the page's history they know who did what and when, and in some cases you can use it to explain why you made a certian change.
- When posting to talk pages and other discussions, make sure to sign your posts by typing four tides after them (~~~~). On that note, you can also just insert your username with a link to your user page by typing three tildes, it's not required to do that but it does come in handy.
- Finally here are some useful links to learn even more about how things work here:
- The Five Pillars of Wikipedia
- How to edit a page
- Editing, policy, conduct, and structure tutorial
- Picture tutorial
- How to write a great article
- Naming conventions
- Manual of Style
- Merging, redirecting, and renaming pages
- If you're ready for the complete list of Wikipedia documentation, there's also Wikipedia:Topical index.
That might seem like alot to read through, but you don't have to read it all now, but those links might come in handy later on.
I hope you continue to edit here and of course join WikiProject Maryland by adding your name under the participants section, which, like I said before you can just do with three tildes (~~~). If you have any questions, you can ask me on my talk page and I'll be glad to answer them.-Jeff (talk) 02:09, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
