I'm sorry, but your claim that I have some sort of bias against Fordham because I go to Brandeis is simply unfair. First of all, you do not know me, and as a result, it's extremely illogical to assume things about my personality when you have no idea who I am. Do you truly believe that because I go to a liberal, Jewish school (for the record, I'm an athiest), I must have a grudge toward a conservative, Catholic school? That, my friend, is the essence of a personal attack. I am completely impartial when I make my opinions known during an AfD discussion; if I am unable to do so, I will either not comment at all, or in some cases (such as that of The Justice), I will give an opinion but abstain from arguing for or against deletion. For the record, I have a few friends at Fordham, and I see absolutely nothing wrong with the school- so long as they don't hurt others due to their beliefs, I have no problem with people feeling, thinking, and believing anything they want to feel, think, and believe. I happen to be extremely liberal, but for example, my girlfriend's roommate is a pro-life conservative, and she's one of the kindest, sweetest, most fun people I know. If I am to give you some advice, it is this: Don't blindly assume that you know someone simply because you know one fact about them. -- Kicking222 16:35, 14 December 2006 (UTC)

While I will not necessarily withdraw myself from the AfD discussion in question, I am going to withdraw myself from this discourse. If you must think that my reasoning for deletion is ludicrous bias as opposed to adherence to core Wikipedia policies such as WP:BIO, then that is how you must feel. To be fair, in the approximately 2,000 deletion discussions in which I have participated, nobody has ever accused me of such bias. Arguing with someone who is displaying a strong prejudice is, simply, not worth my time and energy. Have a nice day. -- Kicking222 16:44, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
As a final statement, let me make it known that I have been at Brandeis for 3 1/2 years and have never once heard of a rivalry between Fordham and us- in fact, I've never even heard anybody mention Fordham. That university is 200 miles away and plays sports in a different conference (in a different division, no less), and there are probably very few (if any) people who would even consider applying to both colleges. I'm not sure where you feel this "rivalry" comes from, but I can assure you that it does not exist. Additionally, if it did, I would still feel as comfortable discussing a Fordham-related deletion as I would discussing one related to Tufts (or any other college with which we may actually have a "rivalry"). -- Kicking222 16:47, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
I'm glad we could come to this (dis)agreement. I honestly do hope that you help make WP a better place, as that should be the goal of every editor of the site. If you feel that this particular article has a place on Wikipedia, then you can help by finding independent reliable sources asserting the subject's significance. You can also help by not starting arguments or claiming bias. I have around 5,000 edits on WP, but I do not feel that your opinions are less valid simply because you are "new". I do, however, feel that your opinions are less valid because they contain unsourced attacks. I said this two messages ago, and unfortunately, did not adhere to my own statement, but I will now: I will no longer engage in this discussion, and if you respond to this message, I am sorry to say that your response will go unanswered. WP needs every positive contributor it can get, and I would be happy for you to be another one; with that said, please avoid making personal attacks, and please attempt to counteract the valid reasons presented in the AfD relating to why this article should be deleted. -- Kicking222 17:01, 14 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Brandeis vs. Fordham rivalry

If there really is a rivalry between Brandeis University and Fordham University, it might be a good idea to add that to their respective articles. For example, the University of Dayton article talks about their athletic rivalry with Cincy and Xavier, and University of Toledo mentions Bowling Green. --Gladlyplaid 17:28, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
