Bratpack (comics)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Bratpack is the title of a limited series of comic books by Rick Veitch. It was a very dark satire on superhero sidekicks, influenced partly by the fans' decision to kill off Batman's sidekick Jason Todd, but also built on other long-standing rumors and undercurrents in the history of the superhero genre, prominently commercialism, homosexuality, pedophilia, violence, and the fascist tendencies inherent in superheroes. The limited series and graphic novel versions featured notable differences, the most prominently in the ending.
The plot involves the recruitment efforts by the various 'heroes'. The original group of sidekicks had been killed by one of the only few villains left, Doctor Blasphemy.
The main heroes aren't much better than villains themselves, each with immoral and violent leanings.
