Braille Technology

Braille Technology revolutionized the life of thousands of people because it allows them to engage in the virtual world that could not be perceived through their eyes. Braille Technology allows blind or visually impaired people to realize common tasks such as writing, browsing the internet, typing in braille and printing in text, engaging in chat, downloading files, music, using electronic mail, burning music on cds, and reading on the computer. It also allows blind or visually impaired students to complete all assignments in school as the rest of sigthed classmates.

This technology includes the development of software such as "Jaws", that reads the words on the screen and enables the browsing of folders, documents and programs on microsoft windows, or "Kurzweil" that allows scanning of texts into the computer and narrates it. Also music students have the access to a program called Goodfeel which is a "Braille Music Translator" Software Braille Displays Braille Keyboards Braille Printers Braille Notetakers

Braille technology goes handy with Assistive technology Include screen enlargers, Low vision keyboards and key tops reading machines
