Objectives

The aims of The Federation of Business and Professional Women's Association of Thailand under The Royal Patronage of H.M. The Queen (BPW Thailand) are:

1. To strengthen friendship and understanding among business and professional women in Thailand.

2. To improve status of business and professional women at all levels.

3. To improve standard of practices for the business operations and services.

4. To unite the capability of business and professional women to make a difference in the society at both national and international levels.


History

The Federation of Business and Professional Women's Association of Bangkok, Thailand under The Royal Patronage of H.M. The Queen (BPW Bangkok) was established in 1964. Following its inauguration BPW Bangkok encouraged the establishment of BPW Chiangmai, and BPW Songkla. In 1973, these three clubs formed the Federation of Business and Professional Women Associations of Thailand (BPW Thailand). In 1976, BPW Thailand became a member of the International Federation of Business and Professional Women. And in 1981, Her Majesty the Queen graciously accepted BPW Thailand under Her royal Patronage. As of year 2003, BPW Thailand has member clubs in Bangkok, Chiangmai, Songkla, Ubon Rajathani, Roi-Ed, Khonkaen, Kalasin, Yasothorn, Chaingrai, Lumpang, Prae, Nongkai, Nakhonsrithammarat, Suratthani, Phuket, and Samutprakarn.


Members

While members of BPW clubs include some of the most successful and distinguished women from both the public and private sectors in Thailand, BPW clubs also welcome young entrepreneurs and young professional women as its members. As such, BPW clubs create a mentoring environment that fosters leadership development. Many of our young members have advanced to become Members of Parliament, top executives, and successful business and professional women.


International Network

As a member of BPW International, BPW Thailand is recognized as one of the most influential international women association. BPW International have over 80 member countries worldwide, and has maintained a consultative status to the United Nations since 1947.


Activities

BPW Thailand is dedicated to improve the status of women by helping them to gain the necessary skills for their career and business advancement. Member club play an integral role in engaging in several projects to provide professional training to women at all levels.

The contributions from these projects enable BPW Thailand to win "Beyond 2000: Helping Women Helps Themselves" awards at BPW International Congresses in 1999 and 2002. In recognition of the achievements of prominent Thai women, 10 awards are granted by BPW Thailand every triennium to the nation's top business and professional women. Each BPW club holds various networking activities throughout the year. Every year in February, BPW Thailand holds a candle lighting ceremony at the same time as BPW in other countries to unite in spirit and solidarity with business and professional women around the world.
