This page about Boyd Coddington is gonna be a hell of a bitch to write. Most of his background (i.e. before 1990's) is hard to find, and most of his noteriety is more focused on his bankruptcy, his rivalry with Chip Foose, and his show American Hot Rod, which has garnered mixed reviews by people, from outright disgust to enamourment. I'm convinced there is no way a neutral article about him can be written about him.

I'm sure a neutral article can be written, but first some actual biographical information has to be obtained. But I'm sure I'm not the right person to do it, as he appears to be a sour old man with poor people skills and a congenital inability to credit others. Not the sort of person many want to write a biographical article about.K8 fan 04:15, 23 May 2007 (UTC)

I think you've characterized him pretty accurately. A couple other things that I've read might be of interest. First, it's come to my attention that he was a "long-term diabetic." And there's this column from Jalopnik: http://jalopnik.com/361403/boyd-coddington-remembered which gives a little information about him. From my own observations, I can state that after a well-publicized mess at Speed Week in August 2007 involving a spinout of their roadster while his wife, Jo was driving (she was the only driver entered for that car) and the sinking through the salt crust and into the mud below of his mammoth motorhome followed by no less than 5 tow trucks becoming mired in the mud, BC and his race team returned to the salt flats for the World Finals event (October 2007) they comported themselves as just another race team in search of a speed record. I believe that BC was quoted as saying, "no dog and pony shows this time" in reference to the discovery channel's helicopter and video crew that were highly visible during Speed Week. I photographed a lot of their effort (as an independent photographer) and saw a racing effort that was no different than any other race teams. I don't think I'd be qualified to write a biography of him, either, since my only interaction with him was as a competitor on the salt flats. Bruno (talk) 12:25, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Fraudster Tag

I removed the Category:American fraudsters tag. There was no mention of any fraud in the article itself whatsoever so I'm going to assume it's stray vandalism. Cheers, Mooney 12.146.184.9 (talk) 22:36, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

Never mind. I put it back. I really ought to learn to read. Mooney 12.146.184.9 (talk) 23:03, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] OVER RATED?!?!?!

Does this person really deserve his own wiki? It is getting stupid when every person in the world has their own page. I do not see him as having enough merit to get his own wiki page. He just didn't do enough. jerry magnuson has done worlds more for hotrods and bikes and he doesn't have his own page. people dont deserve to have their own wiki just because they were on some stupid tv show (tv is fake)

This guy is also known in Europe because of his tv show (German translations have been added). I didn't like him either but he deserves an entry - at least for being member of the tv show cast. --91.141.96.38 (talk) 02:44, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
If you think that Jerry Magnuson has done enough to be included, by all means find a few sources that mention him, and start an article. Let me know if you need a hand getting started. John Vandenberg (talk) 05:53, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] The show's fate?

What is going to happen to the show now that Coddington has passed away (rest in piece...)? Have any sort of announcements been made? Moreover, who inherits the business? Regards, --Kurt Leyman (talk) 01:59, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
