Bouloussou Soubramanion Sastroulou was Diwan, Conseiller local and Jury during French colonial rule in Yanaon in early 20th Century.

[edit] Birth

Soubramanion Sastroulou was born in Yanam in 1870s and was brought up by his grandmother Veerubhotla Mahalakshmamma (whose native is Nimmaluru near Vijayawada). He was born to Bulusu Jagannatha Sastry through his second wife. Later, he grew up as very prominent personality in Yanam during French Reign in early 20th century.

He was one of Bezawada Bapa Naidou's four councillors in the "Conseil Local de Yanaon" between 1928 and 1931 and later on under Kamisetty Venougopalarao Naidu from 1931-1934. He was very prominent personality and loyal follower of Bapa Naidou. Monsieur Diwan Bouloussou S Sastroulou had been one of the three "Jurés de Yanaon" and even he worked as Diwan for "Manyam Zamindar" before being elected as Councillor . He was also been elected to "Conseil Local de Yanaon". Apart from M.Puniamourtoula, he is the only famous politician from élite Brahmin caste which is a minority in Yanam which has Kapu majority. He was one of the very rare genuine and humble politicians of his time. His fame was so high that every Pondicherry Governor General who come to Yanam, used to visit his house. He is well known for his elegant fluency in French language. He was provided with royal escort and honours through out his life.

His wife Bouloussou Souria Pragassame was own sister of former minister of Madras and Andhra, Kala Venkata Rao. He had three sons namely, Bulusu Jagannatha Sastry, Bulusu Lakshmi Narayana and Bulusu Satyanarayana Murthy.

His elder son Bulusu Jagannatha Sastry, very close friend of Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, was one of the most educated (passed out from Jadavpur University) and highly qualified persons who lived in Yanam at that time. However he was completely out of political affairs in Yanam, thereby putting an end to the family of the Bouloussou's influence in Yanam politics.

Diwan Bouloussou Soubramanion Sastroulou died in Yanaon on 13 September 1941.
