[edit] Niki Taylor lawsuit

On January 29, 2007, Taylor filed a federal lawsuit charging E! Entertainment with slander and emotional distress for her profile on Boulevard of Broken Dreams.[6] She alleges the producers promised to promote her successes but instead misrepresented her as a failure. "The first episode," the Complaint stated, "... is a false portrayal of Ms. Taylor as being continually plagued by ill fortune and tragedy."[7] The lawsuit indicates the documentary alarmed a cosmetics company with which she was negotiating to start a cosmetics line.[8]

  1. ^ And speaking of moles, tonight's episode features the gorgeous model with a mole, Niki Taylor, who at 17 was a supermodel, at 18 was married to an arena-football star and at 19 the mother of twins. And then her life went over a cliff. Niki's little sister, Krissy, her best friend who also became a super model, died suddenly at 17 years old. Niki found Krissy's lifeless body in the entrance foyer of their parent's house. The autopsy showed that the girl had an undetected heart condition that killed her instantly. A few months later Niki herself was in rehab - having become addicted to drugs in an attempt to block out the horror of her sister's death. Shortly thereafter, she was coming home from a night out in Miami with a friend when the friend lost control of his car. Niki came very close to death herself. Her liver had been sliced in half during the crash and she was in a coma for months. Her parents who'd barely survived Kriss's death were now facing the chance they were going to lose a second child. What happened then - and where Niki Taylor is in her life now - make for an awfully good tale.
  2. ^ On tonight’s episode, for instance, the cast-off members of Destiny’s Child — LeToya Luckett, Farrah Franklin and LaTavia Roberson — complain about their ill treatment by Matthew Knowles, Beyoncé’s father. But they don’t dwell nearly enough on old resentments. Before you know it, they’re plugging their new projects as if they were cruising down the Highway of Happy Hopes. Ms. Luckett is even talking about her solo album, which was No. 1 on the Billboard 200 less than six months ago. By the end it’s hard to see this lively, bright-smiling young superstar ever for a minute trudging along what Green Day calls “this empty street ... where the city sleeps ... I’m the only one and I walk alone.”

  5. ^ I suppose former Fugees singer Lauryn Hill is included on the list for her meltdown on MTV2 Unplugged in 2002 where she told the audience she was "crazy and deranged". Lauryn won a ton of Grammys in 1998 and then sort-of freaked out about her fame. She got the hell away from the record industry, which she said was smothering her. It'll be interesting to see if E! categorizes her story as a "fallen star", because I think she's happy with the choices she has made.
