Bots, short for robots, refer to non-human players of a game. Classically, bots are the scourge of multiplayer games because of their affiliation with cheating, particularly in mass multiplayer online games. Bots are sometimes confused with the non-player character (NPC), but have several distinct differences. Bots in Games are not exclusively used for cheating, although the main purpose is overwhelmingly to buff a character (building stats, skills, abilities, or rank with repeated automated actions).
