Botallack

Botallack (Cornish: Bostalek) is an ex-tin mining village in Cornwall, England United Kingdom near Land's End. It is situated between the town of St Just in Penwith and the village of Pendeen. It has a pub and a nearby campsite.
It is known for its Crown Mines which lie down in the cliffs. There are two engine houses here and the levels extend for about 400m out under the Atlantic ocean; the deepest shaft is 250 fathoms (about 150m) deep below sea level. Also, there are two arsenic works opposite the Botallack Mine count house. The BBC television series Poldark was filmed partly in Botallack, using Manor Farm as Nampara. The mining developments around Botallack form part of the St Just mining district's successful inclusion in the Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape World Heritage site which was approved in July 2006.
