Borut Pahor (born on 2 November 1963 in Postojna) is a Slovenian politician and Member of the European Parliament. He is the president of the Social Democrats, which are part of the Party of European Socialists, and sits on the European Parliament's Committee on Budgetary Control and its Committee on Constitutional Affairs. He is also a substitute for the Committee on Foreign Affairs and vice-chair of the delegation to the EU–Croatia Joint Parliamentary Committee.
He is one of the most popular Slovenian politicians and was considering running for the office of President of Slovenia in the 2007 presidential elections. Although being at the top of the opinion pools, he declared he will instead lead his party to the parliamentary elections in 2008[1].
