Borough Sports Ground
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Borough Sports Ground is the home of Sutton United F.C.. Also called Gander Green Lane because of location down a road called Gander Green Lane. The record attendance for Gander Green Lane is about 14,000 when Sutton United lost 6-0 against Leeds United in the FA Cup in the 1969/1970 season. In 1962/1963 Sutton United paid £5,000 for floodlights in their ground. In the summer of 2000/2001 season new floodlights were installed at the ground.
The pitch is quite a long way from the terracing, especially at the Collingwood Road End, because the ground used to be used as a running track. This makes the crowd seem even quieter than it actually is as the fans are well spread out.
