Bomilcar

Bomilcar is the latinised form of the Phoenician name Bdmlqrt, which means "in the hand of Melqart".[1]
It is a common name in the Punic culture, and the name of:
- Bomilcar (4th century BC), a Carthaginian commander in the war against Agathocles.
- Bomilcar (3rd century BC), a Carthaginian suffete and commander in the Second Punic War, father of Hanno.
- Bomilcar (3rd century BC), a Carthaginian commander in the Second Punic War, supply officer of Hannibal.
- Bomilcar (2nd century BC), a Numidian nobleman and follower of Jugurtha.
