[edit] Moving this page
Support The reason why this page should be re-named is because of ambiguity. A search for Bob Cole (using Go) yields Bob Cole the announcer. Bob Cole (composer), the greater entry is not indicated. Perhaps a third or fourth Bob Cole will call for a disambiguous page. sd
- Ick... "broadcaster" would be better. -- Earl Andrew - talk 04:22, 15 October 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Criticism
Trying to think of a nice way to add some of his critics, e.g. [1] heqs 14:55, 25 May 2006 (UTC)
- Exactly... he is rather disliked among CBC viewers who are not fans of the Toronto Maple Leafs for his homerism and general ignorance of other teams. Hence, I would say the quote "Cole is known for his ... accurate description of the on-ice action" is very debatable. Also I don't know if he can really claim "Scores!" as his own, somehow, seeing as it is a pretty common phrase in sports involving goals. :) J21 15:18, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
I agree there should be a criticism section. Yes, this is an encyclopedia, but criticism sections are a common feature of articles of this type. --Zegoma beach 12:47, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

- I think that the "criticism" section of this article should certainly be removed. Sure, criticism sections are common features, but this one is not notable nor is it even cited. To say that the CBC received "a flurry of emails from fans all across Canada" is absolutely absurd! Unless the author of that section personally checked CBC's email and looked up the home-town of those who sent those emails, there's no way that this should be included. Unless the alleged criticism can be cited, it should be removed. It looks utterly ridiculous being included in this article. Drbn (talk) 03:51, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

- I don't know if criticism should or shouldn't appear on the main page, but here's an article from the Toronto Star specifically citing Bob Cole as the reason many fans are turning away from CBC's hockey broadcasts, especially when he's not covering the Leafs.

If you guys want to dish critical opinions on Cole go to the CBC website.. This site is for factual information... I don't care if you praise him for being a homer either... that is all opinion and it does not belong on these articles. The media criticized Lemieux for being a floater.. especially Cherry but regardless of whether it is true or not... you can't conclude because that is one persons opinion. The same with Francophones.. why don't one of you go to Francophones and write "Criticism" section on how they are all chicken (bleeps) for wearing visors. You are all losing touch with the objective of the site. Hearsay and opinions are not facts. Don't want to sound like an ass but this isn't the place to practice writing editorials. There are just as many supporters for Cole as there are nay sayers. Personally I think he is going senille, so is Neale..so with that being said let's keep it straight..-Rainman71 03:59, 13 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Legally Blind
Bob Cole was legally blind. He's also dead, he had a heart attack between intermissions tonight at Mellon Arena. Discuss. --199.212.73.129 01:10, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
- He's still livin' plus I've added his 'He was nailed' common phrase, for hockey hits, just can't find a source for it, if the phrase is removed, I won't dispute it. GoodDay 22:03, 11 May 2007 (UTC)
