Bob Allen

Bob Allen (born 1958) is an American politician who was a Republican member of the Florida House of Representatives from 2000 until 2007, representing Florida's 32nd district. His district included portions of Brevard and Orange Counties.
He made headlines in 2007 after being arrested for offering $20 to perform sexual acts on an undercover male police officer.[1]

Born in 1958, Allen was raised in Florida, and received his Associate of Arts degree from Valencia Community College. He also attended but did not receive degrees from the Florida State University and the University of Central Florida.

Rep. Allen served on the following committees, but was removed after he was charged with solicitation of prostitution:

Allen was co-chair of Sen. John McCain's presidential campaign in Florida, but resigned following his conviction.
[edit] 2007 arrest and conviction
Allen was arrested on the afternoon of July 11, 2007 at Veterans Memorial Park in Titusville, Florida for solicitation of prostitution from an undercover, male police officer.[2] The official stated that fear of an African-American male caused him to make the offer. [1] He was released from the county jail after posting a $500 bond. [3][1] Allen was convicted on November 9, 2007. After being sentenced on November 15, 2007 to six months of probation, a $250 fine, court costs and $245 restitution to Titusville Police Department, Allen also was ordered to undergo testing for HIV and other STDs, complete a class in HIV awareness and to stay away from the park where he was arrested. He resigned from the Florida House of Representatives on 2007-11-16[4]

He and his wife, Beth Elaine Allen, have one daughter, Tia. Beth Elaine Allen grew up in Brevard County, FL and graduated from Merritt Island High School.
