[edit] What baseball league did Bo Jackson play in?
Since the article meantions what football league, for consistency it should state what baseball league, I think. KarenAnn 19:44, 31 May 2006 (UTC)
- Never mind. I figured it out KarenAnn 20:05, 31 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Need sources for this articles but otherwise great!
Need to reference where all this information came from e.g. stats, stories about Jackson's behavior need to be sourced. Otherwise, a great article -- people have put a lot of work writing it. I rearranged the material as a copy editor but didn't change any of it. KarenAnn 21:36, 31 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Corrected a mistake
Changed this: "Born in Bessemer, Alabama, Jackson was named after Vincent "Bo" Edwards, a favorite actor of his mother's, and received his nickname when his brothers shortened the word "boar" - as in "wild boar.""
Removed the name "Bo" from the actor, Vincent Edwards' name as it was not "his" nickname. I am new here & hope this was done right. --HankRearden 13:43, 1 June 2006 (UTC)
- You're right! Now that I think about it, he couldn't have gotten the nickname from his brothers if he was named after some called "Bo" to begin with. KarenAnn 22:45, 1 June 2006 (UTC)
Found a couple typos in the quotes section... a "o" that should have been an "0" and the word "won" was missing from the quote about Jeff Gordon. Chunkbot 10:09, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] uuuhhhh
so we all remember bo as a great athlete but this article makes him out as a sort of hercules. without citations the many anecdotes need to go. Justforasecond 04:59, 2 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Remember the time?
Anyone else remember the SI article about how Bo once picked up a (I think it was) 300-test-pound bow and arrow, aimed at the target, and bullseye'd on the first try? This man was hercules - guess Justforasecond is just too young to remember him!
- justforasecond is right. Quotes like, "Reynolds turned to look at Bo, who smiled at him, made his hand into a gun and blew away the pretend smoke that one could almost believe was emanating from that cannon of an arm," are just plain silly in an encyclopedia. This article has too many anecdotes and reads like a fanclub piece. 69.215.133.63 22:54, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Didnt he make the pro bowl?
?
Yes, Bo Jackson was selected to the Pro Bowl in 1990. Here's the link to the '90 Pro Bowl roster: http://pro-football-reference.com/misc/pb1990.htm. He didn't play in it because of his injury, though. BTW, for those under the age of 25, Bo Jackson might as well have been Hercules in his day. He wasn't the best player in baseball, but he was a star, and in the NFL he was probably the best running back in the league for each half-season he played. I'll always wonder what he would have done, absent injury, in the post-1994 MLB offensive explosion. Jsc1973 05:08, 18 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Video of Wall Run and Gunning Down Reynolds
I added a link to a YouTube video of Bo's infamous "Wall Run" as well as his nailing Harold Reynolds on the fly to the "External Links" section. Now we all have some video proof of Bo performing his unbelievable athletic feats! Gujuguy 05:04, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] YouTube links
This article is one of thousands on Wikipedia that have a link to YouTube in it. Based on the External links policy, most of these should probably be removed. I'm putting this message here, on this talk page, to request the regular editors take a look at the link and make sure it doesn't violate policy. In short: 1. 99% of the time YouTube should not be used as a source. 2. We must not link to material that violates someones copyright. If you are not sure if the link on this article should be removed or you would like to help spread this message contact us on this page. Thanks, ---J.S (t|c) 05:17, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] His namesake
Is Bo Jackson named after Vincent Edward or Vincent Edwards? The only Edward that IMDB has a record of was in one episode of "The Scarlet Pimpernel" (1955) and nothing else. Edwards, on the other hand, acted in dozens of roles before Bo Jackson's birth, including "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" (1957), "The Untouchables" (1959), and the starring role in "Ben Casey"(1962-63) for seven episodes.--Anomaly 03:51, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
- It's Edwards. Someone tried changing it back after screwing around with it but forgot the "s". I added a source proving it. - Ocatecir 04:11, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Vandalized
The article has been vandalized with the "Bo Knows [Name not quoted] is a Fag section add. I'm just a guy reading the page , but I can see the last article edit was Feb 3rd at one o'clock in the morning, which sounds like a likely time for the change. Don't know the protocol for fixing, so I'll just note it here.

[edit] Anyone mind a do-over of this article?
I'm trying to find sources and rewrite stuff so that it'll flow better. Also, because we've a free use image, it'll be put to the top of the article. Any objections? --CRiyl 01:16, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, I don't time to review all of these articles right now, but these appear to come from reliable sources: CNN/SI's Heisman page, Description of Bo's famous catch while running up the outfield wall, and also some articles about Bo Jackson via FindArticles search

[edit] Video game version of Bo
This article states "Easily capable of putting up 300-400 yards per game via his incredible speed and tackle-breaking ability, "Tecmo Bo" was a man to be feared." Although he can definitely put up a 400 yard game, it is not necessarily easy and I doubt that this can be claimed as a fact. Also, he is not known for his "tackle-breaking ability" in any form. He has a 31HP in the game which is not something that is considered a great ability. If there are no complaints, I will take out this the "tackle-breaking ability" part and reword the "easily capable" part. Ajwittenburg 21:58, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
- believe me, it's easy [1] Theroyalweman (talk|user|contribs) 19:35, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
- I believe this claim is not very encyclopedic and should be adjusted. It definitely fails WP:NPOV as I don't think fear should be discussed when referred to Bo Jackson and a video game. Jmfangio 09:29, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
This article now states "Even though Tecmo's stats for Bo's player profile do not list his abilities as superhuman when compared to other running backs, Bo clearly is the most dominant athelete both in Tecmo Super Bowl, and in video game history." I do not think that this can be claimed as fact, especially when considering QB Eagles from Tecmo Super Bowl and Michael Vick from Madden 2004. I play TSB a lot online (for example: www.sois.com/tpc) and I am well aware of Bo Jackson highlight videos. However, it can not be worded in a way that makes it appear as fact that Bo Jackson is the 'greatest video game athlete.'Ajwittenburg 22:40, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
I have updated this section to make it more encyclopedic and toned down some of the "Tecmo Bo" worship. Also Bill Simmons saying he is the best player doesn't necessarily make it fact. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Andreasjb (talk • contribs) 16:59, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
