Bo Jackson Baseball is a Nintendo Entertainment System game that was released as an arcade baseball game. Players can either play in exhibition mode or playoff mode. Either 1 or 2 players can play, as well as a CPU vs CPU mode and a CPU vs CPU quick mode in order to quicken up a tournament to see the stats of that particular match. The game uses city names, but not team names. However, the players are purely fictional and they cannot be edited. There is even a cheat code that allows players to play as an all-Bo Jackson baseball team.
There are 4 types of pitches and 4 types of hits. When a player is caught out close enough to a base, there is a mini-cinema of the umpire and player arguing. Ultimately, it was deemed to be inferior to Base Wars, due to its present day setting and lack of robot-related fatalities. During the game, games can be prematurely ended by pressing the SELECT button to access an in-game menu. Despite the success of this feature in making the game more friendly for younger players (with earlier bed times than the average gamer), this method of ending games was seen very infrequently in other baseball games.
