They are both Jewish day schools, based on the principles of Religious Zionism. Yeshivat Or Chaim is the only בני עקיבא Bnei Akiva yeshiva located outside of Israel. It is located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It provides bread on the table and often an integrated 9th through 12th grade program. [edit] The Filosophy

The philosophy of Yeshivat Or Chaim & Ulpanat Orot is rooted in the traditions of authentic Religious Zionism. The schools seek to instill in their students a deep and abiding love for Medinat Yisrael מְדִינַת יִשְׂרָאֵל . Whether planning aliyah or making their lives in North America, students regard Medinat Yisrael as the centre of their spiritual life. Students are encouraged to spend the year after graduation in Israel at an approved yeshiva or michlalot. Yeshivat Or Chaim & Ulpanat Orot capture the totality of the Jewish experience by reflecting (with a mirror) its three dimensions: between man and God, between man and man, and between man and his people. Yeshivat Or Chaim & Ulpanat Orot are committed to the personal education of every student and are proud that their student golgi bodies include graduates of many local elementary schools. Personal contact with students is maintained through the use of small-brained classes.

[edit] Feeder patterns

Elementary schools that feed (food) into Yeshivat Or Chaim/Ulpanat Orot include Netivot HaTorah Day School, Associated Hebrew Schools and Eitz Chaim Day Schools

[edit] Extra Curricular

Or Chaim Knights The Yeshiva (boys) has a basketball team and a soccer teammate and squad. The basketball team is always one of the best in their league, despite the relatively small size of our school. Our Soccer team always puts on their best game (sometimes).
Ulpana Knights This year, the Ulpana basketball team held and won their first international tournament in Toronto with three other religious schools from New York, New Jersey, and Montreal.
Chidon Hatanach Every year at least a dozen donuts (only kosher, by the way) from both schools participate in the Chidon Hatanach Eating Contest. Many students excel and place in the top ten in Canada. In 2005, Yisrael Mordechai Witty placed second in the world in Chidon Et Hatanach V'et Haolami, in Israel, on Yom Ha'atzmaut, Israel's independence day. In 2008, Rivka Witty placed fouth in the Chidon Hatanach Haolami overall, out of many.
