[edit] Roots music invitation
| You are cordially invited to participate in WikiProject Roots music
The goal of WikiProject Roots music is to improve the quality and quantity of information about Roots, Folk, and Traditional music available on Wikipedia. WikiProject Roots music as a group does not prefer any particular tradition of Roots, Folk, or Traditional music, but prefers that all traditions are fairly and accurately represented. |
I thought with your edits of the folk/traditional music related articles that you might be interested in this project.
-- TimNelson 11:20, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
- If you sign up for participation in a WikiProject, there is no real expectation. I've seen people sign up for projects that they then have no observable relation to. My only expectation would be that you would continue to occasionally edit folk-related pages that you're particularly interested in (which would require no change in your existing behaviour). The other thing which I think would be appropriate (but not required) is if you were to add the project's talk page to your watchlist, so that if someone posts something there, you could deal with it.
- Of course, if you wanted to take some items from the todo list on board (or expand the todo list with items of your own) or whatever, that would naturally be welcome too. Your level of involvement is pretty much up to you.

Hi, and welcome to WikiProject Roots music! As you may have guessed, we're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of topics related to Roots, Folk, and Traditional music.
A few features that you might find helpful:
- Our navigation box points to most of the useful pages within the project.
- The News box will help to keep you up-to-date. You can watchlist it if you're interested; or, you can add it directly to your user page by including {{Wikipedia:WikiProject Roots music/News}} there.
- Most important discussions take place on the project's main discussion page; it is highly recommended that you watchlist it.
- The project has several departments, which handle article quality assessment and other tasks.
- For those who like userboxes, we have some available in the Outreach department
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask any experienced member of the project, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around! TimNelson 07:29, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Andrew Lammie/Bonnie Lass of Fyvie
You said these songs are the same. I merged them, but User:Derek Ross disagrees, and unmerged them. history link. I'll leave it up to you to argue with him, since I don't know enough to in this case :).

[edit] Two different "Dowie Dens" articles exist.
Greetings Bluewave
I had previously added some performance information to an article titled "The Dowie Dens of Yarrow" and have just discovered the far more complete article named The Dowie Dens o Yarrow. I've moved the performance information. The other article may need to be mined for anything worthwhile and then deleted and/or turned into a redirect page (I'm not certain how to go about deletion). It contains full English and Scottish dialect lyrics but I question whether these are necessary to the article. I'd appreciate it if you'd have a look at the other article and see what you think. Thanks. -- Rydra Wong 01:09, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

You say you obtained permission for this image in an email exchange; do you still have that email? It would be useful for verifying the permission when you aren't around. — Carl (CBM · talk) 20:09, 26 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Her and she
The use of these words are generally avoided and the surname is generally used primarily. For example when She would start a sentence the surname would generally be the start of the sentance, she is generally used in the middle of sentences.--Lucy-marie 16:48, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

Thanks. Well, the sharp and personally-directed comments were annoying, but there was no point in responding in kind as that would just divert attention away from the main issue. Anyway, it was heartening that a few editors noted the nature of that person's posts and gave him appropriate warnings. — Cheers, JackLee –talk • contribs • count– 23:27, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Sweet Child
I changed the album length to 84:13 mins because that's was the length when I played the album in winamp. I could be in error, or maybe I ripped the 2 albums wrong. But all the tracktimes in my playlist corresponded (within a second or two) to the track lengths in the tracklisting on wikipedia, so I'm pretty sure 84 minutes is more right than 76 minutes.Alcuin (talk) 22:08, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
- Wait, I figured out the difference. The CD re=release contains more chatter between the songs (on the live album) than the original release did. Thus, both the 84 minute running time and the times listed on the tracklisting reflect the CD times, not the original LP times. The original track lengths can be found at the AMG site. I would go ahead and amend the article to show both, but I'm too lazy (at least for the moment). —Preceding unsigned comment added by Alcuin (talk • contribs) 23:16, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Speedy deletion of Template:User vdg
A tag has been placed on Template:User vdg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.
If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it is substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{transclusionless}}</noinclude>).

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Final_programme.png
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Final_programme.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Project FMF (talk) 03:45, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content.
